I was born in Toronto, Ontario and am a fun and loving person with a positive attitude towards life. I always had a knack for art (I remember in kindergarten class during Valentine’s Day I was cutting out paper hearts and everyone asked me to make them one too! I also remember the first time I discovered that I can mix black paint with white paint to make gray so I could paint the rock I had in my painting. It was such an exciting moment!)
After high school, I applied to York University’s Visual Arts program. I remember the day of my portfolio interview. I was so nervous and it was over so fast that I figured I probably wouldn’t be accepted. I also applied to Ryerson’s Fashion Design and Interior Design program but I knew in my heart what I wanted to pursue was Visual Arts. The thrill I felt when I received the acceptance letter from York!
Four years passed by in a flash and before I knew it, I was graduating! I followed my heart and pursued what I loved and that was how Art from the Heart was born. I wanted to continue doing what I love and I couldn’t be happier!
As for how I got into caricature…My sister brought home a caricature of herself one day that she got at an amusement park. I remember it was so funny and so good. I was fascinated with the line quality and the colouring and the likeness of my sister and the quirkiness of it and everything about it! That was the day I fell in love with caricature. That was almost two years ago and I am now very proud to be a caricaturist myself. I must say I couldn’t have done it without amazing inspirations such as the hilarious MAD magazine and all of their amazing artists including the great Tom Richmond (plus tons of hideous drawings that steadily improved).
And that’s my life in a nutshell! Thank you for taking the time to read it and feel free to contact me anytime! Please check back often for new works posted in my gallery!
